SGA served as the local landscape architect for the Virginia Beach 5/31 Memorial, providing quality control, design guidance, and construction administration to ensure the realization of a cohesive and meaningful landscape. Located at the Municipal Center, the memorial is envisioned as a contemplative, park-like setting that honors the lives lost in the 2019 tragedy while supporting community healing. SGA’s role focused on coordinating site design intent, materials, and detailing through construction, helping shape a sequence of pathways, wooded spaces, and reflective elements that foster remembrance, quiet reflection, and shared experience within a dignified natural setting.
