City Park

The Reading Recreation Commission is charged with maintaining community recreation services and facilities and manages recreational and educational programs in the City of Reading. SGA assisted the Reading Recreation Commission in the development of a Recreation and Parks Plan. This process included the evaluation of and recommendations for park programs, an evaluation of condition and code compliance of existing parks and facilities, and the development of a funding and implementation strategy.
Park Building 106 currently sits vacant after having been used for multiple purposes, the latest being as a Police Training Facility. SGA performed an evaluation of the building’s current condition and developed several potential plan options for the reuse of the structure as a multi-purpose recreational/educational facility. The plans consisted of layouts and proposed additions for classrooms, studios, offices, and a cafeteria. The Park 106 Building is well situated to become a central hub for much larger gymnasium and outdoor classroom expansion.
