As part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) technical assistance program, Triton College and the Oak Park Public Library as part of the Institute of Museums and Library Services teamed to provide services to Oak Park’s low-income population to facilitated discussions to identify community development and local place-making initiatives in Oak Park and the area of the Oak Park Public Library. The goals included discussions on building sustainable communities, affordable housing, best practices for access to healthy foods and transportation as well as a community action plan with specific implementation steps.
