Chrysler Museum of Art Glass Studio
Norfolk, Virginia
SGA led the landscape design for the Glass Studio Addition, advancing the Chrysler Museum’s Master Plan by expanding the campus and addressing flood risks along Grace Street. Located in a coastal resilience zone, the project introduces a “floodable landscape” that integrates stormwater management, native plantings, and public engagement.
The design features an ADA-accessible serpentine path, a pedestrian bridge, and terraces that reflect the coastal context. A central rain garden captures and filters runoff while supporting ecological function. By elevating the site and preserving mature Live Oaks, the project enhances resilience, connectivity, and visitor experience, serving as a model for climate-responsive and educational landscape design.
