The Downriver Community Conference (DCC) spearheaded a transformative initiative across five southeast Michigan communities. SGA, helped the southeast DCC by focusing on crafting near and long-term strategic reuse plans.

SGA conducted exhaustive data collection and GIS analyses to identify key areas for economic development and revitalization within the study area. These areas encompassed a mix of post-industrial and active industrial sites, offering a diverse canvas for transformation.

Site visits and working group meetings helped to uncover the unique opportunities and concerns within each community. The goal was to align with each community’s distinct vision for future development.

Looking beyond the immediate study area, SGA identified key natural resources along the Jefferson Avenue corridor leading into the City of Detroit. This insight helped to leverage opportunities for reuse and revitalization, underlining a common commitment to sustainable development and collaboration among the communities. The resulting Master Plan reflects a strategic vision for a vibrant future, emphasizing the importance of economic revitalization and foresight in shaping thriving communities.
