Fairfax Boulevard
Charles Town & Ranson, West Virginia
SGA partnered with the City of Ranson on a decade-long effort to revitalize its downtown by addressing vacant lots, blight, and brownfield sites. Central to the project was the revival of a historic “grand boulevard” concept from the city’s 1892 plan, implemented through the Two Towns–One Plan strategy with federal support. Funded in part by TIGER grants, the one-mile Fairfax Boulevard was designed to balance modern transportation needs with public space goals. The project incorporated green infrastructure for stormwater management and met environmental standards. Completed in 2017, the $12 million investment spurred over $50 million in redevelopment, transforming the city’s core.
