SGA led the Hopewell Area‑Wide Brownfields Redevelopment Plan in 2016, establishing a strategic framework to guide the remediation and reuse of approximately 133 acres of underutilized and contaminated properties in Downtown Hopewell and the South 15th Avenue Corridor. Through extensive community engagement, environmental analysis, and market‑realistic planning, the plan prioritized reinvestment, walkability, and mixed‑use redevelopment while addressing regulatory and remediation constraints. Over the past decade, the plan has directly supported the successful conversion of multiple brownfield sites into housing, cultural, commercial, and waterfront destinations. In 2026, SGA is updating the plan to build on its proven impact and guide the next phase of revitalization.
