SGA and Toole Recreation Planning were retained by the Borough of Wind Gap to develop a DCNR funded Master Site Development Plan for Wind Gap Park. The resulting master plan will make the facility a significantly more functional park and to support future, longer-term improvements desired by the community. The proposed improvements reinforce and perpetuate what the community values most in the park and addresses the items most requested as needing improvement including fundamental code compliance and utility upgrades, specifically related to the park’s electrical service; focusing on improving maintenance, especially related to utilization and wear-and-tear on facilities; implementing an existing tree canopy strategy to ensure the perpetuation of the tall tree canopy; improving and formalizing pedestrian circulation and create diverse seating area opportunities; and addressing drainage issues throughout the site with grading, conveyance, and green infrastructure.
Parking is a major concern by the community and needed to support peak park usage. SGA developed a reconfiguration of existing parking to provide an additional 17 off-street parking spaces in a manner that requires minimal additional area and actually resulted in a more attractive parking area that is buffered from the core of the park and from adjacent residential properties.
