Farhan Ishrak

Project Planner/GIS Specialist

Farhan joined SGA in July 2025 as a Project Planner/GIS Specialist. Originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). Following his graduation, he worked for two years as an Urban Planner consultant, focusing on geospatial analysis to improve waste management systems across various municipalities in Bangladesh.

In 2024, Farhan began his Master’s in Geography at Binghamton University, where he also served as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant in the Department of Geography. As part of the Johnson City Revitalization Project team, he contributed to developing GIS-based tools—including ArcGIS Dashboards and Experience Builder applications—to analyze and visualize the impacts of revitalization initiatives in Johnson City, NY. His master’s thesis explored the relationship between urban expansion and population growth in the United States through the lens of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

At SGA, Farhan is passionate about continuing his work in geospatial analysis to address real-world challenges and contribute to sustainable community development.

Outside of work, Farhan enjoys cycling, swimming, playing soccer, and chess. He is also an avid movie fan and loves to travel.
