The live webinar entitled “How Nature Alleviates Flooding” will focus on how significant, long-term changes in weather patterns that result in warming temperatures and sea-level rise, unpredictable weather patterns, and increased storm intensity are impacting communities. It is a reality around the world—and it’s having significant effects on the Chesapeake Bay and surrounding communities. Timothy will be discussing a few of the innovative ways he has integrated natural processes into his designs for community-based infrastructure projects to create highly resilient placed-based solutions for overcoming seemingly daunting regional and global problems. Joining Timothy will be a panel of speakers that include Matthew J. Strickler, Virginia’s Secretary of Natural Resources, Andria McClellan, Norfolk City Councilmember, and Mary-Carson Saunders Skiff, Policy Director for Wetlands Watch.
